LITHUANIAN RESEARCH AND INDUSTRY

International Conference Lithuanian Research and Industry has been organised since 1993 by one of the largest technological universities in the Baltic States – Kaunas University of Technology. The conference features presentations and panels on Europe’s major industrial and economic developments, inviting open discussions among representatives from the European institutions, the national government and the leaders from industry and academy.

Conference Topic: Resource management and (un)planned changes

There is an eternal law in the world – every organization has limited resources. Resources can be interpreted in the broadest sense: from financing decisions, workforce potential, and time resources dedicated to the creation of innovation, to the lack of raw materials in economic or even political contexts.

In the face of unfavorable and even threatening geopolitical circumstances, the year 2022 is marked by energy challenges that touch every element of the economic system. Industry is no exception. As the energy crisis worsens, the rising prices of resources lead to undesirable consequences: decreasing profitability, new losses, or even the threat of being out of business. Confrontation with existing problems encourages a discussion: where should industrial enterprises be oriented? What forecasts to expect in an international context? And what would be the contribution of science in order to minimize the effects?

Professionals from higher education, business, and state administration will share their experience, knowledge, and forecasts at the conference. Political, business, academic, and public leaders, representatives of state institutions, opinion makers, company managers, business associations, and scientific and study institutions are invited to participate in the event.

In search of answers to these questions, conference speakers are invited to:

– reflect both the situation in the field of energy and its consequences for industry and business, and how this changes the approach to resources, their management, and what role science can play in this.

– express insights related to resource scarcity, acquisition, management, optimization and how it works in assessing the state of the local/global ecosystem.

– to define the needs and cooperation opportunities of local/global scientific, business, political communities, which need to be evaluated before making resource management decisions.

– describe trends and share forecasts that can affect social well-being, the growth of the country’s economy, and the preservation of the environment.

– name the potential affecting/will affect competitiveness in the present/future.
